1.1. Introduction
Hello everyone! I’m Victor Kirilov Velev, and I’m excited to share my final report for the WP Credits course. This report summarizes my contribution to the WordPress translation project, the challenges I faced, and the skills I gained. I hope my experience inspires others to contribute to open-source projects!
1.2. Teams and Projects I Contributed To
I took part of the Polyglots Team (WordPress Translation Team).
My main focus was the Spanish translation of the WordPress theme “BlogByte”, ensuring that all text strings and customization options are accessible and clear for the Spanish-speaking community, ensuring a natural and accurate user experience in Spanish.”
1.3. Learning Resources
The guides I used for my contribution was
- The Polyglots handbook https://make.wordpress.org/polyglots/handbook/
- The Translate WordPress platform
- The local community Slack channels.
I started by reading the Polyglots Handbook and familiarizing myself with the official WordPress glossary to maintain consistency with technical terms. Meanwhile I recieved corrections and guidance from the official translators

The WP Credits course taught me the true impact of global open-source collaboration. I learned how to:

1.8. Personal Reflections and Next Steps
Translating the BlogByte theme has been an incredibly rewarding experience. I was surprised by how much thought goes into choosing the right words so that users feel at home using the software. Moving forward, one of my thoughts was to keep contributing to the Polyglots Team, translate more themes and plugins, and eventually become a Project Translation Editor (PTE). I’d love to connect with fellow translators—feel free to reach out!
